Today was a great day. We made our first blanket drop to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. What a blessing is was to hand out packages of warmth and love to all the children. Two of the officers (Luzy Ofarrill and Alexander Prowda) from the Chaparral Junior Purple Society joined Nancy Prowda, Suzann and myself for the delivery. EVERY CHILD in the oncology unit received a beautiful new blanket, a pair of fuzzy socks and a handmade Purple scarf made by the kids at Sequoya Elementary School, Cocopah Middle School and Chaparral High School. The children that were in active bone marrow treatment had their nurses come by the playroom to pick up their Purple Package!

The 2011 Nitalia’s Blanket Delivery!

This “Blanket Drop” was a very special one for our family…It was the first delivery without Nitalia being by our side. She LOVED to hand the blankets directly to the children. Talking to each and every one of them! And always sending them off with a “Feel Better”! As always she showed up to remind us that she’s ALWAYS with us…How?
A little girl with a PURPLE SHIRT on walked up to me in the playroom, tapped me on the leg, and said “Hi!”. I turned around and saw a BIG SMILE and BIG BROWN EYES… I immediately saw Nitalia in those eyes, and knew it was her reminding me that she was there. (I included a picture of her below)
