Yes, yet another successful Nitalia’s Blanket Drop occurred last night at Cardon’s Childrens Hospital in Mesa Arizona! We hand delivered hundreds of blankets, socks and scarves to the oncology unit at Cardons. A very special THANK YOU goes out to Girl Scout Troop 135 that collected over 150 blankets for the kids in the hospital! What an incredible job they did! Some of the troop joined us in handing out the blankets to the patients in the hospital. We also need to give a great big THANK YOU to David Hyatt! David was so enthusiastic about delivering the blankets. He took us on a tour of the oncology unit and even showed the troop the toy closet! We cant thank him enough for making this a great experience! Lastly, we need to THANK Alma Espinoza for introducing troop 135 and Nitalia’s Blankets! THANK YOU Alma for your love and commitment to helping children fighting cancer!
We arrived at the hospital at 5:30PM and were welcomed by a slew of smiling faces! Troop 135 was suited up in their green best and ready to hand out blankets to the kids. David met us in the lobby with big red wagons to get the bags upstairs. When we arrived in the playroom, it took less then 10 seconds for kids to start coming in to get their Purple Package! Kids and nurses streamed in and selected their blanket, socks, and scarf! After all the kids got their gifts, we piled up a wagon with blankets, socks and scarves for the kids at the oncology clinic.
Well, you know that I was looking for my sign from Nitalia…she ALWAYS lets us know she is there with us, and sure enough as we walked out of the unit Aviona said “Look at that!”. We all turned to look at what she saw and there all by itself was a solitary PURPLE BALLOON tied to a small chair. Now, we walked past that very chair on the way in and there was not a balloon tied there! Of course I had all the girls gather around the “Nitalia balloon” for a picture! And guess what? After saying goodbye to troop 135, Suzann, Aviona, Isabella, and I proceeded to walk to our car…
As we walked I noticed the name of the parking lot we parked in… THE PURPLE PARKING LOT!!! I swear, ya can’t make this stuff up! I included some pictures below!
